A 22-year-old man who studied for five years at Leshan Vocational and Technical College will receive his diploma two years after the college maintained that it had no enrollment or attendance records for him.
Wang Dong originally enrolled to study tourism and business in September, 2002. He initially planned to finish his studies in three years, but a year later, he applied for a five year option and was accepted.
In 2007, when Wang was about to graduate, he found he couldn't receive his diploma because the college claimed it had no record of him. He was a non-person as far as it was concerned. So he complained to the Sichuan Province Education Department. In late May, he finally received the good news that he can receive the diploma, but must retake some tests he failed in 2005. The college will shoulder the transportation fees for Wang who is now working in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.
