The two-day fourth International Participants Meeting of Expo 2010 opened on September 23 in Shanghai. This is the final participants meeting before the event's official opening and over 800 representatives of over 200 participants attended this meeting.
According to the meeting, various preparation works, such as the construction of the Expo Site, exhibition, demonstration, activity planning, ticket sales, security, traffic management, volunteer service and reception are progressing in an intense and orderly way.
The Expo 2010 Shanghai is the first registered international exhibition held by a developing country. At present, a total of 241 countries and international organizations have confirmed their participation in the Expo.
Around eight million tickets for the Expo have already been sold and the tickets are selling well, meeting the expected target, according to Hong Hao, deputy secretary general of Shanghai Municipal Government and director-general of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination.
