Reporters learned from the national domain name complaint center of the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) that since December 10, when the complaint hotline for pornographic domain names was made public, netizens have made quite a number of complaints.
The center, as well as registration service institutions, also actively conducted self-examinations. It received over 2,000 complaints against pornographic domain names in five days. As of 8pm on December 15, 775 pornographic domain names have been shut down after investigation and a total of 484,365 domain names have been investigated.
A CNNIC official said that newly registered domain names should go through application auditing in written form. A notice on further improving domain name registration auditing work published on December 11 requires users to submit application materials in written form while submitting a domain name registration application online to domain name registration service institutions starting from 9 am on December 14. Only domain names that pass application auditing in written form can open domain name resolution services.
The national domain name complaint center receives complaints from the public 24 hours a day and welcomes the public to report pornographic domain names in a timely manner. Ways to report include:
Telephone: 010—5881 3000;
E-mail: supervise@cnnic.cn;
Fax: 010—5881 2666.
