China's urbanization is lagging 100-years behind the US and could help create sustainable economic development, according to a former high-ranking official.

Li Deshui, the former chief of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said China's urbanization would give impetus to the sustainable economic development, help solve the over capability problems and enhance China's service industry.

"China's urbanization is lagging behind the US for at least a hundred years and it has great potential in this aspect," Li said..
