According to the website of China's Ministry of Public security, during the 7 days of Spring Festival holiday, railway police uncovered 228 criminal cases and 450 cases of scalping tickets, captured 446 suspects selling tickets with high prices and destroyed 47 tickets scalping sites.
Railway police stations introduced that 623 police units went into the front line to safeguard public security, and 70 thousand police gave up their holidays to continue working.
Since migrant workers from Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Hunan and other provinces started going back to their working cities after Chinese New Year, passenger numbers at parts of the country increased suddenly, and railway police stations in different cities initiated an emergency plan to maintain order.
To ease the overcrowding caused by real name tickets' checking procedure in Hunan and Sichuan, the Ministry of Railway sent 36 Bureau officers and 2,500 special policemen to support the procedure and ensure the security of passengers.
During the Spring Festival holiday, lots of passengers brought fireworks and other dangerous goods with them despite traffic rules, therefore domestic railway police stations strengthened security checks with scanners being run for 24 hours and 100 percent of passengers' luggage being checked. To date, 7,776 cases of carrying dangerous goods have been uncovered. At same time, police found and asked to rectify 1,258 cases of hidden dangers through continuous security checks at railway stations, public places and warehouses.
At the same time, railway police stations organized more than 30 thousand police to patrol the railway lines and other important facilities such as bridges and tunnels to make sure accidents didn't happen.
