Four domestic divers set a new Asian record of exposure to high pressure, which equals pressure of 493-meter-deep underwater, in a simulation test on Sept. 6. And that experiment also made China the ninth country that has managed such a technique.

The experiment was preceded in a navy medical research institute with saturation diving equipment, which was designed and built independently by China. The experiment was carried out using China's independently-developed saturation diving pressure regulation system, which imitates underwater pressure through using helium-oxygen mixed gas to inflate into the experimental cabin.

Finally, four divers stayed in the cabin with pressure of 480-meter-deep for 49 hours and they also went "dived" to 493 meters underwater for some diving operations such as dismounting and assembling ring flange and so on.
