The Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University in Nepali capital Kathmandu held its first anniversary celebration on Friday.
More than 100 audiences witnessed the anniversary celebration with the participation of officials from the Chinese embassy in Nepal, management of Kathmandu University, non-governmental Nepal-China friendship organization "Arniko Association", Chinese teachers and students from the community.
Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Zheng Xianglin was absent due to the strike blocking the road.
Ms. Chen Yuli, First Secretary at the Cultural Section of Chinese Embassy in Nepal, expressed the congratulations on behalf of Ambassador Zheng Xianglin, confirming the achievement that the Confucius Institute has got in the past year and hoping that teachers there to work even harder to develop the institute into a best base for the promotion of Chinese culture and language.
Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University, Prof. Suresh Raj Sharma said hopefully that the Confucius Institute will have a bright blueprint in the future with joint efforts, and with the support of Chinese government.
The ceremony offered series of cultural programs, which entertained all the audiences, and it came to an end with laughter, cheers and anticipations.
China's Hebei University of Economics and Business and the Kathmandu University in Nepal on June 13, 2007 jointly held the Opening Ceremony of the Confucius Institute at the latter's campus in Kathmandu.
This is the first Confucius Institute in Nepal. Approved by the Office of the Chinese Language Council International on May 16, 2007, Hebei University of Economics and Business manages Chinese language and culture programs for the institute. Source: Xinhua
