The Chinese edition of the book Citizens: Followers and the Wide Sea, written by Eric Rolls, one of the most famous writers in Australia, was issued in Australian Embassy in Beijing this afternoon. During the ceremony, Graeme Meehan, Minister/Deputy Head of Mission of Australian Embassy, delivered a speech about Australia-China relationships and the book. Zhang Wei, Ph.D in journalism and Professor of Shandong University, the translator of Chinese edition of the book, also addressed in the issuing ceremony.

Citizens: Followers and the Wide Sea is mainly about the history of Chinese in Australia from 1888 to 1995. The book continues the work of completing the panorama of the history of the Chinese in Australia which he began with Sojourners. As a piece of historical research, this book deserves the merit that has been accorded it. Rolls has brought to life the diversity and colors of the times and people he talks about.
