The fire that destroyed a childhood home of Madonna in the Detroit suburb of Rochester Hills is deemed suspicious by arson investigators, media reported Tuesday.

The fire, reported at 2036 Oklahoma at about 8 p.m. last Friday, caused significant damage to the two-story brick home, said Oakland County Sheriff's Department.

A woman driving in the neighborhood noticed flames coming out of it and called 911.

The fire is considered suspicious, and under investigation for arson.

It appeared to have started in the living room and caused extensive smoke and fire damage throughout the two-storey brick house, according to Rochester Hills Fire Chief Ron Crowell.

The unoccupied house is where Madonna spent some of her younger years as one of six siblings. The current owners were not home at the time and no one was injured.
