The Sri Lankan military said on Thursday that 122 trainees have been admitted to hospital after food poisoning in the east.

Officials from the Media Center for National Security said the soldiers were from Henanigala Army training camp in the eastern Ampara district.

They said further investigations are being conducted.

Ampara is a district of Eastern Province where was retaken from the control of Tamil Tiger rebels in July last year.
