In response to the swine flu outbreak that has caused panic around the world, Beijing Capital International Airport initiated full-scale infrared passageway checking on April 27, requiring that all passengers arriving on international flights have their temperature taken.

Some of the emergency schemes implemented during the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) crisis are also in the process of being initiated, but their large-scale application is currently waiting for centralized arrangement by relevant authorities.

At 5 pm on that day, the website of the Beijing Entry-exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau revealed eight measures that it is taking to prevent and control the swine flu outbreak, including enhancing body temperature monitoring and medical checks for incoming passengers arriving on international flights from countries including Mexico the US, Canada, Spain, the UK, France and New Zealand and fully implementing boarding quarantine on key flights from countries such as the US.
