The total confirmed A/H1N1 flu cases in Canada rose to 284 on Sunday, with four new cases reported, according to the latest figures from the Public Health Agency of Canada.

The provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan each reported two new cases. Four provinces or territories reported none while four did not report.

Up to now nine out of Canada's 10 provinces and 3 territories have reported infections.

As of May 8, 2009, half the cases involved patients 22 years of age or younger. The median age of those infected was 22, with the youngest only 1 year old and the oldest 66 years old. Four cases have been hospitalized and one death has been reported, the agency says in an analysis.
