Uruguayan health authorities reported two new confirmed cases of influenza A/H1N1 on Thursday, raising the total confirmed cases in the country to 17.

The new cases involved two people from Montevideo who had "epidemic links to trips abroad and contacts with already confirmed patients," the authorities said in a statement.

By Monday, the Uruguayan Public Health Ministry had confirmed 15 A/H1N1 flu cases.

The country's first two A/H1N1 flu cases were reported on May 27, involving two people, aged 24 and 15 years old respectively, who had traveled to Argentina.

Public Health Ministry officials said there were not A/H1N1 outbreaks but only individual cases in the country.
