Four more cases of A/H1N1 flu were reported in India Wednesday, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 35, said Health Minister Kiran Walia.
She said three men and one woman were hospitalized and quarantined at the Airport Health Organization hospital after they arrived from Singapore, Canada and the United States separately.
Meanwhile, a student who recently returned from a visit to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) center in Florida, United States, was quarantined in the northern the Punjabi city of Jalandhar after he complained of a running nose, bodyache and high fever, said health officials.
The family of 38-year-old Ashok Kumar who belongs to Dehra village in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh was quarantined after he was suffering from fever when returning from Bahrain last Friday.
Indian Health Secretary Naresh Dayal has asked developed countries to contain and check the spread of infection in their own countries.
Indian Minister of State for Health Dinesh Trivedi also said on Tuesday that the United States is the main source of H1N1 flu spreading in the country and urged Washington to screen all passengers leaving the country.
