The National Health Institute of Colombia on Thursday reported eight more cases of the A/H1N1 influenza, which brings the number of confirmed cases of the disease to 101 in the country, including two deaths.

The new cases were found in four women, two men and two children, said the institute.

According to the Social Protection Ministry, there are currently 1,491 possible cases in Colombia, which was the first South American country to report A/H1N1 flu cases.

A 24-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man had died from A/H1N1 flu in Colombia. The government has tightened control at hospitals and health centers to avoid a large-scale outbreak of this disease in this country.
