Four more deaths have been reported in Asia-Pacific region on Saturday while hundreds of new infections were found in the region on the same day.

New Zealand reported three influenza A/H1N1-related deaths on Saturday, the first report of flu fatality in the country.

The three victims include a 19 year-old man, who died on June 28 in Hamilton, a 42 year-old man who died on July 2 in Christchurch, and a young girl who died on Saturday morning in Wellington Hospital.

The three people, all with underlying medical conditions, had earlier tested positive for the flu virus.

According to the coroner's report, it is strongly probable that the flu A/H1N1 virus was a major factor in the deaths of the two men.

Mark Jacobs, director of Public Health, said, "There is no need to change our management approach at this stage but we remain vigilant. For most New Zealanders, influenza A/H1N1 will be a mildillness, but in some instances, the infection can cause more severe illness and in a few tragic instances, death."

The flu A/H1N1 confirmed cases in New Zealand has climbed to 945 on Saturday, up from 912 on Friday.

Thailand's Public Heath Ministry on Saturday reported the country's seventh death in connection with the flu virus.

According to the ministry, the latest victim was a girl from central province of Ratcha Buri, some 80 km southwest of Bangkok.

Saturday morning, the ministry announced 134 more infections, including 115 students, which brought the country's total number to 1,845.

Indonesia reported 12 new cases of A/H1N1 flu, raising the total cases to 20, the Health Ministry said Saturday, adding that local transmission has been occurred.

The latest cases involved four foreign visitors and eight Indonesian citizens, which means the flu virus has been transmitted among communities in Indonesia.

But he declined to elaborate details of the two locally-transmitted cases.

Nepali Ministry of Health has stepped up surveillance for A/H1N1 flu and established one more health screening desk on the Nepal-China border.

Apart from Tatopani, the government has also established desks in Rani, Sunauli, Birgunj and Nepalgunj along the Nepal-India border.

Singapore on Saturday confirmed 34 new cases of Influenza A/H1N1, bringing the total number of such cases to 1,003 in the country.

According to the Ministry of Health, of the cumulative 934 cases investigated so far, there have been 541 local cases and 393imported ones.

Hong Kong confirmed 26 new cases of influenza A/H1N1 on Saturday, bringing the cumulative total to 927 in the city, local health authorities said.

The new cases involved 13 males and 13 females, aged between three and 52.

The neighboring Macao reported seven more confirmed cases of influenza A/H1N1 on Saturday, bringing the total number of such cases to 54 in the region.

The Chinese mainland also reported 42 new cases on Saturday, raising the cumulative total to 1,002, according to the information on the website of the Ministry of Health. So far, 720 patients have been discharged and 275 others are still under medical treatment.

The total number of flu A/H1N1 cases in Malaysia rose to 326 on Saturday as the authorities reported 35 new confirmed cases on the day.

The Malaysian Health Ministry said that 11 of the 35 new cases were local transmitted cases, the highest number of such cases reported in a single day in the country.

So far, 237 of the 326 confirmed cases in the country had recovered and been discharged from hospital.

Cambodia has beefed up actions against A/H1N1 flu in preventing the flu from spreading through airports.

The measures include terminating all hospitalities with national and international travelers at the stairs of planes, and asking all travelers to pass through the monitoring system of the health ministry.

According to the report of the health ministry, Cambodia has recorded seven cases of A/H1N1 flu so far.
