The Bangladeshi government has confirmed two more A/H1N1 flu cases, bringing the total number to 18, leading English-language newspaper The Independent reported on Sunday.
The Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) under the Health Ministry on Saturday confirmed two people in Dhaka got the infection through their relatives, who had recently returned from Australia and the United States, the report said.
The newspaper quoting spokesman of the IEDCR Mustaq Hossain said that the two new patients, a young man and a woman aged between 20 to 22, were kept in home confinement under close observation of the IEDCR experts.
Meanwhile, among the earlier 16 cases, eight patients had fully recovered and the others were under the supervision of the health officials at their homes, isolated from other family members, according to the newspaper.
Ten out of the total 18 cases had been contracted overseas, while the remaining eight had become infected within the country.
Hossain said treatment in hospitals was unnecessary as all the patients had showed slight symptoms, according to The Independent.
