DPRK develops reagent for diagnosis of hepatitis C virus antibody

The Academy of Medical Science of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said it had developed a new reagent "HCV-PHA" for diagnosis of hepatitis C virus antibody, official news agency KCNA reported on Thursday.
The researchers said it is an ecto-diagnosis reagent for examining an antibody in blood by using an antigen related to the hepatitis C virus.
The reagent was developed from a virus genome which was separated and refined from the serum of patients with genetic recombination the technology, they said.
The report said the "HCV-PHA," whose sensitiveness has been confirmed by clinical test, will be applied in public health institutions across the country.
