Tourists and journalists stranded in Wolong in quake-hit Sichuan Province were safe, an official said on Wednesday afternoon. They included more than 50 foreigners.

There were no deaths or injuries among the stranded tourists and journalists, who were sheltered at a restaurant, said Zhang Wenxiang, an official with the Wenchuan Wolong Giant Panda Administration.

Telecommunication in Wolong was cut off since Monday's earthquake.

Wolong is famous for the China Wolong Giant Panda Protection and Research Center, which is about 30 kilometers to the southwest of the earthquake epicenter.
