Mother and Two Children by Kathe Kollwitz

The ArtMia Foundation at the Caochangdi Art District is presenting an exhibition of Germany printmaker Kathe Kollwitz (1867-1945), who is known worldwide for her artistic accounts of human sufferings such as the poverty, hunger and war.

Since being introduced into China in the early 1930s by respected writer Lu Xun, Kollwitz's works are quite well-known and have had a huge influence on Chinese artists such as Zeng Fanzhi and Tan Ping.

The exhibition features 40 pieces of her art, with themes of mother and child and life and death, which played a significant role in her artistic creations as a female artist.

The exhibition is due to run through April 17.
