"Official cars" gather for college enrollment

A group of photos of various government vehicles sending new college students for enrollment has caused heated debate among netizens, the Guangzhou Daily reports.
The photos, posted by a netizen after enrollment day at Xiangtan University in central China's Hunan province, show government vehicles ranging from familiar departments such as public security, procuratorate and court, to lesser-known flood prevention and price inspection.
Zhang Hongfeng, the netizen who posted the photos, said the photos were shot by senior netizens of Bbs.rednet.cn, a local web forum. The photographers were shocked to see so many official cars disregarding the ban on private use.
The photos soon caused heated debates among netizens. Some even said that they had never seen official cars from so many different government departments together. It seems as if it was a joint action of the departments, some netizens joked.
A similar situation occurred at the enrollment for Zhengzhou Foreign Language School in central China's Henan province. Government vehicles from various departments were seen on campus, according to Modern Express report.
Private use of government vehicles has been a problem for years in China. Despite opposition from the public and the media, it is still commonplace.
China's central government issued a notice banning the private use of government vehicles in 2007, but the effect did not placate the public for a lack of related measures and severe punishment.
