Song Xinyi (L) learns how to play piano from Huang Yanlin, a professor of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, in Chengdu, capital city of southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Oct. 27, 2009. Shielded by the bodies of her parents, three-year-old Song Xinyi survived the 8.0-magnitude earthquake that hit Sichuan Province on May 12, 2008. After receiving artificial limb rehabilitation treatment, little Song Xinyi stood up again and started a new life. Now, she has been a pupil of Chengdu's Golden Apple Kindergarten. With the mass help from different circles of the society, little Song Xinyi becomes optimistic and grateful. As Xinyi's 4-year-old birthday came, people who care for Xinyi all along came from different cities of China to gather in Chengdu and held a birthday party for her. "She has understood the meaning of gratefulness and she hopes to help others when she grows up", Song Gang, little Yixin's uncle said. (Xinhua/Chen Xie)
