AIDS and wars are challenging the impoverished Uganda. U.S. tightened its anti-HIV aids campaign following the global financial downturn. The free distribution of anti-HIV/AIDS drugs was restricted causing the inflamed spread of AIDS in this landlocked east African country. The hospitals there are overcrowded with HIV-positive patients.

20-year-old Ninsiima Agatha is refused medical treatment by a local hospital because of budget constraints. The 19-month-old child (L) later died of AIDS.
