Real Madrid beat neighbors AtleticoMadrid 2-1 in a dramatic game in the Vicente Calderon Stadium on Saturday night to provide the highlight of match day 7 in the Spanish Primera Liga.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy opened the scoring for Real in the first minute and Bernd Schuster's side looked to be heading for all three points before Siman Sabrosa scored a last minute free kick to level the scores.
However, the game, in which Van Nistelrooy and Atletico's Luis Perea were both sent off, had one final twist when Real substituteRoyston Drenthe was brought down in the Atletico penalty area in fifth minute of injury time and Gonzalo Higuain fired home from the penalty spot to give Real all three points.
