The Nigerian Postal Service on Friday launched in Nigeria's economic hub Lagos a set of commemorative stamps, as part of its official celebration on the opening Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in China.
Nigeria's Minister of Information and Communication John Odey, who was represented by Agnes Okoye, deputy postmaster general in charge of territorial administration, expressed Nigeria's immense support to the Chinese Government and people for a successful hosting of the 2008 Games.
According to the minister, the stamps depict three events in which Nigeria will be competing for medal at the games, Football, athletics and wrestling.
Among those who were present at the launch ceremony were sportsmen and women, students, bankers, traders, traditional rulers.
Guo Kun, Chinese consular general in Lagos, who was also at the ceremony, said the Olympic Games have always brought people together in peace to respect universal moral principles.
He wished both Chinese and Nigerian athletes would do an excellent job at the Games. Source:Xinhua
