S.Korean president says DPRK's shutdown of nuclear facilities "positive"

10:48, July 30, 2007

South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun said on Monday that Pyongyang's shutdown of its nuclear reactors in Yongbyon was a "positive progress."

The South Korean government wishes that the latest move by the North (the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, or DPRK) would help accelerate the implementation of February's six-party agreement eventually meant to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula, Roh's spokesman Cheon Ho-seon quoted Roh as saying.

South Korea will closely cooperate with members of the six- party talks continuously, said the spokesman.
