South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) agreed on Tuesday to launch a new round of general-level military talks on July 24, said the South Korean Defense Ministry.
"The two sides agreed to resume the sixth round of general- level talks between July 24-26," the South Korean Defense Ministry said in a news release. The agreement came after a one-day working-level military talks between the two sides at the truce village of Panmunjom. The two sides also agreed in the talks that they will hold another session of working-level talks on July 16 to discuss the detailed schedule and venue for the upcoming meeting, as well as ways of implementing agreements reached earlier. The South Korean Defense Ministry said the DPRK called for the halt to the spread of (anti-communist) propaganda leaflets by South Korean civilian groups during Tuesday's talks. The DPRK also presented a draft of agreements related to the realization of a joint fishing zone in the West Sea (Yellow Sea) and measures to prevent armed conflict, as well as a guarantee for the security of inter-Korean economic cooperation, the South Korean Defense Ministry said.
