Visiting U.S. assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs Christopher Hill said Saturday that the United States hopes that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) could report all its nuclear programs in weeks.

Hill, also U.S. head of delegation for the six-party talks, made the remarks when meeting with press in Kanagawa Prefecture, southwest of Tokyo.

He stressed that the process of disabling nuclear facilities should not be delayed even if the report work hardly proceeds.

About the DPRK-proposed bilateral military talks with the United States, Hill said institution targeting for peace should be established between governments, instead of military authorities.

The U.S. side firmly support the institution of the six-party talks, he added.

Hill agreed on Friday with Japanese Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau director general Kenichiro Sasae to keep cooperation on denuclearizing the Korean peninsula.

Hill is to leave for South Korea and China on Monday, one day later than the previous schedule due to typhoon, to continue his trip in preparation for the six-party talks delegation heads meeting in Beijing on July 18-19.
