The Role of Laos Media in reporting the Cooperation between ASEAN and China, Japan and R.O.k

• Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am very delighted to attend the First 10+3 Media Cooperation Forum here in Tianjin. On behalf of Lao Media, I would like to take this opportunity to thanks the People’s daily of China for its gracious hospitality and thoughtful arrangements.
All Lao Mass Media, including PASAXON Newspaper, the Organ of Lao People Revolutionary Party belongs to the Ministry of Information and Culture. We play an important role in disseminating the achievement of good cooperation of ASEAN and China, Japan and R.O.K.
Since Laos has became the member of ASEAN, PASAXON Newspaper as well as all Lao Media has increased its role in order to support the country’s move to integrate it self with regional in all fields and also to promote mutual understanding among the people of all ASEAN members and all dialogue partners especially China, Japan and R.O.K .
In recent years, especially after the 10th ASEAN Summit and ASEAN+3 held on in Vientiane, the capital of LAOS in November 2004, the cooperation has achieved a remarkable accomplishment. Lao PDR identified and satisfied with the initial results in the implementation process. A number of practical activities have been carried out in order to realize the decisions to the 10th ASEAN Summit as well as ASEAN+3. For promoting this cooperation, PASAXON’s daily and other Lao media participate actively with some special columns, radio-TV programmed to educate people at all levels about the political, social, economic development as well as the diversities of culture of the countries member of ASEAN+3. The implementation of the plan to promote ASEAN+3 awareness and understanding have been taken by all Lao medias in order to enhance the cooperation and strengthen the relation among the people in the region.
In order to mark the 10th Anniversary of ASEAN+3 relations in the year 2007, the 10th Anniversary that LAOS joint in ASEAN and the 40th Anniversary of ASEAN. Lao Medias especially PASAXON newspaper covers all the activities devoted to the celebration and opens the special column for ASEAN to celebrate these important events.
So, in order to deliver and strengthen Asia’s voice I would like to suggest the foundation for media exchange in order to promote ASEAN+3 cooperation, awareness and understanding. And also request the training or seminar for young journalists in order to make new member as Laos to integrate it self with the regional in all fields.
I would like once again with the deep appreciation to thanks the People’s Daily of China to organize this 1st 10+3 Forum, and I would like to take this opportunity reaffirm the commitment of my newspaper PASAXOn as well as all Lao media to promote the cooperation between us ASEAN+3.
