China's striker Ma Xiaoxu has wished she could score more goals in the upcoming women's World Cup after breaking her 273-day scoring draught.

The 19-year-old hitter, who scored once in China's 4-0 win over Hungary on Wednesday, hope the goal could bring confidence back to her in time just before the kickoff of the World Cup .

"I am very happy that I finally scored. You know since I joined the team selected by Marika Domanski-Lyfors, I never scored in any competitive games," she said.

"That put me in a somewhat awkward position, as my task is to score goals. I pushed myself very hard beforehand, but only came close on several occasions.

"You see I found my touch now. I never doubt my abilities and now I belive that I will score more goals in the World Cup. I hope the end to my scoring draught will bring good luck to our team in the World Cup."

Though still only 19, Ma Xiaoxu is already a well-established figure in the women's game the world over. But after being transfered to Sweden Umea club last December, she never scored in any competitive games.
