Background: Chronology of Taiwan's UN bid
On September 22, 1993, the General Committee of the 48th session of the UN General Assembly decided not to include the so-called issue of "Taiwan's representation in the United Nations," raised by seven Central American countries, into the agenda of the General Assembly. This is the first time the General Committee defeated the conspiracy of Taiwan authorities to create "two Chinas" and "one China, one Taiwan" in the United Nations。
On September 21, 1994, the General Committee of the 49th session of the UN General Assembly decided no to include the so-called issue of "Taiwan's representation in the United Nations," raised by Nicaragua and a small number of countries, into the agenda of the General Assembly.
On September 20, 1995, the General Committee of the 50th session of the UN General Assembly decided not to include the so-called issue of "Taiwan's representation in the United Nations," raised by a few countries, such as Nicaragua, into the agenda of the General Assembly.
On September 18, 1996, the General Committee of the 51st session of the UN General Assembly decided not to include the so-called issue of "Taiwan's representation in the United Nations," raised by a few other countries, into the agenda of the General Assembly.
On September 17, 1997, the General Committee of the 52nd session of the UN General Assembly decided not to include the so-called issue of Taiwan's "return to the United Nations," raised by the Solomon Islands and a few other countries, into the agenda of the General Assembly.
On September 11, 1998, the General Committee of the 53rd session of the UN General Assembly decided not to include the so-called issue of Taiwan's "return" to the United Nations, raised by Nicaragua and a handful of other countries, into the agenda of the General Assembly."
On September 15, 1999, the General Committee of the 54th session of the UN General Assembly refused to include the issue of "Taiwan's participation in the United Nations", raised by Nicaragua and a small number of countries, into the agenda of the General Assembly.
On September 7, 2000, the General Committee of the 55th session of the UN General Assembly decided not to include the issue of "Taiwan's participation in the United Nations," raised by Senegal and a handful of other countries, into the agenda of the General Assembly.
On September 14, 2001, the General Committee of the 56th session of the UN General Assembly decided to not to include the issue of "Taiwan's participation in the United Nations," raised by Gambia and a few other countries, into the agenda of the General Assembly.
On September 11, 2002, the General Committee of the 57th session of the UN General Assembly decided not to include "Taiwan's participation in the United Nations," raised by Gambia and a few others countries, into the agenda of the General Assembly. The attempt of Taiwan authorities' to "return" to the United Nations fails again.
On September 17, 2003, the General Committee of the 58th session of the UN General Assembly refused to include the so-called issue of "Taiwan's representation in the United Nations," raised by Gambia and a handful of other countries, into the agenda of the General Assembly. This is the 11th consecutive defeat of the Taiwan authorities' conspiracy to create "two Chinas" or "one China, one Taiwan".
On September 15, 2004, the General Committee of the 59th Session of the UN General Assembly refused to include the so-called issue of Taiwan's representation in the United Nations, raised by Chad and a few other countries, into the agenda of the General Assembly. The Taiwan authorities' 12th attempt to create "two Chinas" or "one China, one Taiwan" in the United Nations, had been thwarted.
