Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete arrives in Sanya, a scenic city in south China's island province of Hainan, on Thursday, kicking off his state visit to China as guest of Chinese President Hu Jintao.
Hu will hold talks with Kikwete during his stay in Sanya, in which the two leaders will exchange views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern.
During his visit, Kikwete will also attend the opening ceremony of this year's annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) on Saturday.
The BFA, established in 2001, is a platform for high-level interaction between leaders from Asia and the world. Theme of this year's meeting is "Green Asia: Moving Towards Win-Win Through Changes".
China and Tanzania have maintained smooth growth of bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1964. The trade volume between the two countries in 2007 reached 794 million US dollars, up 48.2 percent over the previous year.
Kikwete was elected as rotating Chairman of the African Union in January. He has paid visits to China before the current tour, including his 2006 trip to attend the Beijing Summit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum.
