The Kyoto Protocol which expires in 2012 and the recent Bali UNFCCC marked major steps mankind has taken in responding to the challenge. Is climate change an irreversible trend? What further significant implications will it have for the way we do business and live in the foreseeable future? How can the wholesale participation of everyone, i.e. government, business, NGOs, individuals, be achieved?

It has been argued that convergence of the technology, media and telecommunications industries will conversely mean that technical quality will no longer be a barrier, and that content quality will come to the fore again as the key competitive differentiator. Although, or perhaps because, we are in the thick of the era of Web 2.0, an era which is being dominated by the internet platform and its nurturing of increasingly diverse web-based communities fostering social networking, information exchange and collaboration, Web 3.0 is inevitable and just a question of time. Web 2.0's harnessing of the collective intelligence of a multitude of individuals is making Web 3.0 the next imperative where the internet evolves its capability to perform more intelligent selection and distribution of the information. What are the implications for the Asia region? To what extent will virtual infrastructure replace the need for physical infrastructure in nurturing and unleashing the intellectual and creative power of people across Asia to generate value for Asian economies?
