South Korea shot out 224 points in the quarterfinals against Poland, setting a new Olympic record of 24 arrows at the Olympic archery field on Monday.

South Korean archers Im Dong-Hyun, Lee Chang-Hwan and Park Kyung-Mo managed to score 224 points, edging out audacious Poland combination Rafal Dobrowolski, Piotr Piatek and Jacek Proc by only two points.

The three-time Olympic champions are poised to pull out a "hat-trick" after victories in Athens and Sydney.

In another quarter-finals, China scored 217 points, defeating Russia to clinch a berth in the last four. This is a breakthrough for the host, who has never been to last eight previously.

Other quarterfinals ended with Italy ousting Malaysia 218-213 and Ukraine downing Chinese Taipei 214-211.

China is going to challenge the reigning champion and Italy to fight against Ukraine in the semifinals.
