Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, on Thursday August 7， sent a message wishing China a successful Olympic Games.

In his message to Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, just hours before the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Solana said that the EU was impressed by the efforts undertaken by the Chinese nation to host the World's greatest sports event and share it with citizens from all over the globe.

"We are looking forward to this joint celebration of friendship and sportsmanship," said Solana.
