According to figures from Tencent, over 300 million users have downloaded and signed on to Tencent's new software program, QQ 2008, in order to quickly obtain Olympic-related information. Some experts think that during the Olympics, QQ's coverage rate can almost be compared with that of CCTV.
Miss Liu from Shanghai says that since she needs to go to work in the morning, she is unable to watch her favorite sporting events, gymnastics and diving. However, she can obtain information on the competitions from QQ news. This is the method she and her colleagues most often use to get Olympic information.
The results of AC Nielsen's research show that out of the major group of people who go online to find information on Olympic gold medals (aged 16-30), 58 percent find that information through Tencent software, far surpassing the number who use Sina, Sohu, and other websites.
