According to the report from a famous TV ratings research institute of AGB Nielson, during the first half of this year's Olympics, from August 9 to 16, over 96% of Chinese families were watching the Olympic Games.
The statistics also indicate that the CCTV Olympic broadcasts have greatly affected and changed Chinese audiences'TV viewing behavior. During the Olympics, the ratings have exhibited the following: Olympic program ratings cities and towns are very high; peaks in ratings appeared frequently; and more people like to watch the games with families and friends.
Over 90% of Chinese families watched the Opening Ceremony on TV on August 8. On August 9, the first day of competitions, nearly 90% of families were watching the Olympics. From that day forward, the passion for watching Olympics spread throughout Chinese audiences, and near 87% families have been watching the competitions on TV everyday.
More audiences choose to watch the Olympics with families and friends. According to statistics released by AGB Nielson, 60% of audiences have been watching Olympic programs with families and friends during the 8 days since its opening; and 46% more watch the Games in groups than those that watch alone. Female audiences prefer to watch TV with others, while only 30% of female audiences would watch Olympic programs alone.
