Anete Jekabsone-Zogota sunk two points with two seconds to play to lead Latvia to a dramatic 79-78 victory over Brazil on Wednesday in Beijing Olympics women's basketball tournament.

"I think my teammates were more stressed than me," Jekabsone-Zogot said after the match. "I was very calm and I was happy to make the shot."

A top-form performance in the heated match-up against Brazil as well as experience building up over years took credits for the calmness.

The 1.76m Latvian guard racked up 25 points to lead all scorers in the game against Brazil and gave out five assistance, making eight of 15 field goal attempts and hitting 100 percent of her six free throws.

Jekabsone-Zogota was named FIBA Europe Women's player of the year in 2007 as a result of her remarkable EuroBasket performance and impressive campaign with Dynamo Moscow club.

Regarded as the real leader of the Latvian national team, she had impressive statistics at last year's Eurobasket, finishing second in scoring (17.2 points) and fifth in assists (3.0 assists per game). She played over 35 minutes per contest and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Born in August 12, 1983, Jekabsone-Zogota, the daughter of former Latvian basketball star Andris Jekabsonse, turned 25 on Tuesday.

"I'm 25 now," she said. "And today I decided we needed to have this win."

"It was really important since we lost two (games) before," she said. "We have to show everyone now why we're here."
