The Nicaraguan sprinters Jessica Aguilera and Juan Zeledon rejected on Monday the last-hour change of their coach for the Olympic Games of Beijing.
According to the radio program "Deporte Ya", Aguilera and Zeledon signed a letter to express their disagreement with the change of coach some days before the competitions, made by the Nicaraguan Institute of Sports (IND).
The letter, also signed by president of the Nicaraguan Federation of Athletics Maria Ocon, will be given to the IND director Marlon Torres in Beijing.
According to radio station "La Nueva Radio Ya", Aguilera and Zeledon complained that at the last hour the delegate of the IND dismissed their coach Jaime Izaguirre.
Izaguirre, who was in charge of Aguilera and Zeledon's training from the Olympic Games of Beijing, is considered one of the best coaches of sprinters in Nicaragua.
"It's unfair and we are uncomfortable for the change of coach," Aguilera was quoted by the La Nueva Radio Ya, which is a radio station from the ruling party Sandinist Front of National Liberation (FSLN).
According to the letter, Izaguierre had under his responsibility the Academy of Atheltocs of Somot, but he was removed without justification, so other could go in his place to Beijing.
Aguilera and Zeledon are part of the six sportsmen that will represent Nicaragua at the 29th Olympic Games of Beijing 2008.
Aguilera will compete on Aug. 16 at the 100m and Zeledon will compete at the 200m on Aug. 18.
Aguilera also complained that she traveled to Beijing with lend shoes to run and Zeledon said that his tennis shoes were not of his seize.
