The opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics was successful, Kim Yong Nam, top legislator of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said Saturday.

Kim expressed his congratulations over the ceremony after returning to Pyongyang from Beijing, where he was invited to see the fantastic opening ceremony.

He said he had very friendly talks with Chinese leaders during his visit to Beijing.

Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Kim Yong Il, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs and Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Liu Xiaoming welcomed Kim back at the Sunan international airport.
