A ceremony in commemoration of the 11 Israeli Olympians killed in a tragic event during the 1972 Munich Games was held here on Monday night by the Israeli Olympic Committee and the Israeli Embassy in Beijing.

Honorary President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Juan Antonio Samaranch attended the ceremony and made a speech.

"I came this evening to be with you, on behalf of IOC and its president, Jacques Rogge, to take this occasion, to commemorate the tragic event that happened 36 years ago during the Olympic Games in Munich," said Samaranch.
