"The two countries have maintained high-level contacts, deepened mutual political trust, carried out fruitful cooperation in diverse fields, and supported each other and enhanced coordination in international and multilateral affairs," he said.

Liverpool thanked China for its support and assistance to Dominica over the years, vowed to keep to the one-China policy and hoped the two countries keep expanding all-round cooperation.

During the meeting Hu also expressed gratitude for the Dominican government's support for the Beijing Games.

Calling Liverpool a "senior statesman" and "old friend of the Chinese people", Hu said the Dominican president has always treated relations with China from strategic high, kept to the one-China policy and done immense work to promote the friendly cooperation between the two countries.

"China highly appreciates these efforts," Hu added.
