From the Moon Bay of Qianmen to Zhushiko Street, Qianmen Street spans 850m. With a long history of 570 years since Ming Dynasty, Qianmen Street gained its greatest glory in 20s and 30s of last century. After a year’s remedy which highlights the protection of ancient outlook in 20s and 30s of last century, Qianmen Street will reopen on August 7. The stove fires will flame up again in Quanjude Peking Roast Duck. Actually, the brand of Quanjude originated from Qianmen Street.
After the refurbishment, the fa?ade wall of the restaurant becomes the most eye-striking part with its very original bricks and looks since 1888, reviving the style of old restaurants of old Qianmen Street in the 20s of last century. Many antiques, including old menus, old cashes, old tokens and the earliest picture information about duck roasting photographed by a German woman photographer in 1933, are to be shown for the first time on the reopening day.
At Duyichu Shaomai Restaurant in its former place, a bronze statue of Emperor Qianlong of Qing dynasty, who visited the restaurant incognito 270 years ago, is placed outside of the door. A gold boardv bestowed by the Emperor is also placed in the restaurant to meet people. The treasure brought by Yitiaolong (One Dragon) Restaurant is a purple copper hot pot, which was used by Emperor Qianlong when he stopped here in his incognito travel.
The other time-honored shops including Dabei Photo Studio, Qinglinchun Tea Store, Changchuntang Medicine and Shangzhenge Art Gallery, will also return to Qianmen Street.
