The Xi'an Aerospace Measurement & Control Center has scored breakthroughs in precise orbit determination technologies and laid a foundation for China's lunar probing program, as learned from a meeting commemorating the 40th founding anniversary of the center.

Through researches into key technologies including precise orbit determination for multiple satellites and deep space exploration, the center has helped to realize five key steps in aerospace measurement and control, to "fly to space, return to the earth, orbit synchronously, retrieve spaceship and manage multiple satellites".

For more than 40 years, the center has been leading the country in orbit determination as well as attitude, orbit and return control. Satellite management went from single to multiple and the capacity of handling space emergencies was also enhanced.
