Much to the surprise of Tang Xinghui from Group One of Xinmiao Village in Daman Town, the 12 mu of land he had contracted last year had yielded 850 kilograms per mu, but what was more exciting for him was that the 520 yuan agricultural tax he had to pay every year had been eliminated two years earlier and he says last year alone, his household had received almost 500 yuan in comprehensive agricultural subsidies.

Tang counted on his fingers and calculated that it was equivalent to the government giving him over 1,000 yuan a year.

The Party's policies to support and aid the peasants have really put the grain farmers' minds at ease.
