President Hu Jintao and US President Barack Obama expressed their mutual desire to strengthen bilateral ties on Friday during a telephone conversation. Hu said China is ready for further dialogue and wants to promote trust and cooperation with the United States.

Describing Sino-US ties as "the most important" for both sides, Obama said strengthened dialogue and cooperation is in the interests of the world at large.
