Shanghai is proposing a fund to help Chinese enterprises protect their intellectual property rights (IPR) overseas. It will protect Chinese enterprises' IPR not only with fund, but also with related policies, said Chen Zhixing, the director of Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration at a press on September 24, 2008.

Chen added that Shanghai will release 18 related laws and regulations to protect IPR by 2010, according to the Outline of the National Intellectual Property Strategy.

"Shanghai is preparing for the establishment of its arbitration tribunal. It will take the first-instance ruling or judgment with experts from home and abroad", said Chen Zhixing.

"As the Shanghai World Expo will be held in 2010, we will create an atmosphere on IPR protection and intensify the popularization of knowledge about the IPR," Said Chen Xuejun, vice director of Shanghai Administration of Industry and Commerce.
