In view of the severe disaster in Myanmar, and as a sign of friendship from the Chinese government and people, Chinese government decided to offer another 30 million yuan worth of emergency aids for cyclone disaster relief and reconstruction work in Myanmar, announced Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang at a regular press conference on May 8.
He added that the Red Cross Society of China has also offered 30,000 U.S. dollars as disaster relief aids to Myanmar. Additionally, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries offered 10,000 U.S. dollars, and China National Offshore Oil Corporation announced to offer 100,000 U.S. dollars.
Local governments of southwestern Yunnan Province and southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the All-China Women's Federation, the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation and the China Nonferrous Metal Mining Corporation also promised aids to Myanmar, according to Qin.
Chinese government had previously approved 1 million U.S. dollars worth of aids to help out as part of its relief aids program. The first batch of relief materials worth 500,000 USD, had been delivered to Myanmar on May 7, said Qin.
