Beijing, Sept.6 (People’s Daily Online) The English and Arabic websites of Qatar-based satellite news network Al Jazeera was hacked by a group calling itself “al-Rashedon” on Sept. 4 local time.
A Syrian flag and statement denouncing Al Jazeera's "positions against the Syrian people and government" were posted on the Arabic site in response to its support for the armed terrorist groups and spreading lies and fabricated news.
It is reported that Al Jazeera has been targeted before due to its coverage position but it is the first time that the English and Arabic websites have been simultaneously hacked for a long time.
Al Jazeera has issued a statement saying the websites are back to normal while some users may still not able to browse the websites for a while.
