CANBERRA, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr and Defense Minister Stephen Smith will hold talks with their Japanese counterparts Koichiro Gemba and Satoshi Morimoto on September 14, a news release from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) said Wednesday.
The DFAT news release said the meeting, the fourth Australia- Japan 2+2 Foreign and Defense Ministers' Meeting, will be held in Sydney on Friday.
"The talks will permit discussions on matters including regional co-operation and maritime issues including the South China Sea," the news release said.
In April 2011, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard and then Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan agreed that a vision statement on the future of the security and defense relationship would be a matter for the next 2+2 Meeting.
